Perhaps it seems obvious, but these are the milestones in the Enterprise Weblogging Info. Services roadmap that I will be mentioning in my Computers in Libraries Presentation. Perhaps there are more stages that I am not seeing right now, but these seem to be the ones that would be the biggest targets. Providing XML feeds of existing corporate data seems to be the lowest-hanging fruit, but strategizing your company's position on whether it will provide an enterprise weblogging application or simply enable users to choose their own software seems to be a decision that should be made early on. The long view will include aggregation if weblogs reach critical mass.
* Providing enterprise weblog software or enabling diverse software ecology
* Supporting knowledge creation with XML feeds
* Supporting blog consumption with feed aggregation
There are definitely smaller milestones in between. I am certainly thinking about classification or tagging at the point of creation as an issue, but not as a task to over-burden users with. Also, since weblogging and knowledge management is about communication, connection and influence, there must certainly be some disussion about providing a forum for webloggers to communicate their needs. But, from a information systems level, the three bullets above are the biggies in my mind.
